Made by Norm is an Australian bakery dedicated to producing delicious gluten-free bread designed specifically for people living with coeliac disease.
Working in collaboration with local marketing studio Long & Co, Design Bug helped bring the brand to life from the ground up. The project involved naming the business and developing a bold, approachable identity that would stand out in the gluten-free market while communicating quality, trust and accessibility.
The Thinking
Gluten-free products are often positioned as niche or overly clinical. For Made by Norm, the goal was to create a brand that felt warm, familiar and proudly Australian – appealing not only to people with coeliac disease but to anyone seeking great bread.
The brand needed to feel inclusive and approachable while breaking away from the visual language typically associated with gluten-free products.
The Identity
The identity combines clean typography with a friendly colour palette inspired by the tones of the Australian landscape. Warm, earthy colours create a sense of familiarity and optimism while helping the brand stand out on crowded supermarket shelves.
Together, the visual elements create a confident and approachable brand that reflects the idea of gluten-free bread that doesn’t compromise on taste or enjoyment.
In Practice
The brand was rolled out across packaging, signage, marketing materials and digital assets, creating a cohesive presence for the new bakery.
From product packaging through to website concepts and social media graphics, every touchpoint works together to build a recognisable and welcoming brand for Made by Norm.
